Milton Greene, IMO, is a genius and the Black Session shows that he was not only extraordinary working in color but amazing with black and white as well. What I love most about the session is his experimenting with model as form rather than just a picture of Marilyn Monroe. His work in this session reminds me a great deal of Edward Steichen's -- light creating shape that are nearly abstract and still filled with emotional intent.

This session is my favourite of the Greene-Monroe collaborations.
